In Rovaniemi specialists on biodiversity of the Arctic do not forget about muksun of the Ob River

The largest international Arctic Biodiversity Forum is taking place in Rovaniemi, Finland. The forum was started with the welcoming speech of the president of Finland Sauli Niinistö about significance of conservation of entire biodiversity of flora and fauna in the arctic region. He wished for successful work to all sections and committees of the forum and also to participants of discussion platforms formed on the principle of discussion of the most important issues on conservation of the Arctic biodiversity. This information was given in the information center of the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East.
Grigory Ledkov, the president of the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East, the deputy chairman of the committee on nationalities of the State Duma of the Russian Federation shared his impressions of the forum: “This is one of not many international platforms, where geopolitics is not at the forefront. Here like-minded people gather, people, for who it is important to preserve rights of free traditional economy of indigenous peoples, while conserving diversity of arctic nature. The other day we shall hold the working meeting in Moscow on the issue of preserving and increasing of muksun population (whitefish) in the Ob River. This issue cannot be postponed, and today it is our duty to organize all powers of state structures, public organizations, scientists to solve this problem…”
Many foreign experts are interested in big experience accumulated by Russia in the sphere of non-exhausting nature management and modern environmental legislation.
