More than three hundred exhibits of the main museum of the Arctic will be demonstrated to residents of the Kola Peninsula

The main museum of Yamal continues cooperating with Russian regions. This time residents of Murmansk and Novosibirsk will see exhibits of the Museum and Exhibition Complex of Shemanovskiy.
The exhibition “Ancient stockaded towns of the Arctic” is working in Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore. The exposition was organized by Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore together with the historical, cultural and landscape museum-reserve “Pustozyorsk” from Naryan-Mar and the main museum of Yamal. Visitors will be acquainted with history of three towns located behind the Polar Circle — Pustozyorsk, Kola and Mangazeya. The exhibition presents household items of residents of the northern towns. Among them there is a collection of archaeological objects of the 15th-17th centuries found on the site of the ancient town Mangazeya. There are more than three hundred items from footwear and hunting tools to chess figures and jewelry.
The famous baby mammoth Lyuba from Yamal is the main exhibit of the exhibition “40 000 years on the edge of Oecumene” being held in Novosibirsk State Museum of Local History and Nature. The exhibition tells not only about the Ice Age and the unique find – the baby mammoth but also about natural riches, peoples and cultural-historical heritage of “the edge of the earth” – the Yamal peninsula. The exposition allows following history of development of the severe northern land by human from the Stone Age to our days, getting acquainted to culture of indigenous peoples of the Far North through items of everyday life.
