Scientists from Yamal and Altai plan to organize the expedition to the Gydan peninsula

In April the scientists plan to organize the second expedition to the southern part of water areas of the Gulf of Ob. The first one took place last year; scientists from Nadym, Barnaul, Moscow and Tyumen participated in it.

The new expedition will include employees of the scientific center for study of the Arctic and the Institute for Water and Ecological Problems of the Siberian Branch of RAS. This information was given by the head of the sector of ecological and biological researches at the scientific center for study of the Arctic, doctor of biological sciences Yelena Agbalyan. She considers necessary to continue the practice of conducting of joint complex expeditions and researches.
The scientists from Yamal and Barnaul also plan together to work on the Gydan peninsula, Maloye Schuchye Lake and Bolshoye Schuchye Lake. They study cores of permafrost grounds from water reservoirs of Yamal for radiocarbon rock dating. The scientists from the Institute for Water and Ecological Problems of the Siberian Branch of RAS propose to establish monitoring sites in different subzones of tundra for environmental studies, as it is said to a correspondent of IA “Sever-Press” in the scientific centre for study of the Arctic.
