A scientist from Yamal and a deputy of the State Duma Vladimir Pushkaryov opened the discussion of the key session - development of legislative framework of work safe for human and nature in the Arctic. He acquainted the participants to his personal experience in the Arctic as a researcher, the head of the Russian center for exploration of the Arctic and also to work being fulfilled by the State Duma and the Federation Council. Thus, the section of nature management and environmental safety of the Russian Arctic zone in the Arctic and Antarctic Council under the Federation Council operates today.
“We managed to unite and involve scientists, industrialists, legislators, geologists in work on the most acute and topical issues of development of the Russian North and the Arctic. Invitation of our foreign colleagues to this work caused the heated discussion of variants of cooperation and opportunities to use experience accumulated, in particular, in Finland. With consideration of specifics of climate and territory of Russia, such cooperation can give a great economic and social effect, not mentioning the fact that exchange of experience in preservation of indigenous peoples, flora and fauna of this vast and important region will be enlarged”, as Vladimir Pushkaryov said.
