The expert-advisory council on issues of socioeconomic development of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation is being created under the Federal Agency for Affairs of nationalities. Its membership will include representatives of public movements of indigenous peoples, federal bodies of the legislative and the executive powers, bodies of the state power of 28 regions of the country, resource-extracting companies, scientific and economic communities, culture, sport and mass media.

The International forum “Russia. Indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East” is taking place in Salekhard.

Special attention is being paid to preservation of traditional branches of economy, including northern reindeer husbandry and fishery.
Within the working session on preservation of traditional branches of economy a delegate of the forum from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Andrey Isakov tells what kind of help is given in resource centers to public organizations of indigenous peoples of Yakutia.

Readiness to arrival of the participants and numerous experts of the event, important for many regions of the country, was discussed on the meeting of the governor of Yamal Dmitriy Kobylkin and the president of the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Grigory Ledkov on the 22nd of March.

 

The charitable fund “Yamine” cooperates with the boards of social protection of population in towns and districts of Yamal and with mass media.

As we should note, the club “The world without frontiers”, which is focused on rehabilitation and social adaptation of children with special development, works in the children’s center of the main museum of Yamal, starting with September of 2014. The task of the club is in consultative and methodological help to families bringing up children, who cannot fulfill their potential independently because of their psychic and intellectual individual features. Lessons in the club take place during the whole school year twice a month. Now there are 25 volunteers of Yamal in the club.

Eight million rubles were received from residents of Yamal to the account of the charitable Fund “Yamine”. The director of the charitable fund “Yamine” Dmitry Frolov told about it within the online conference in the news agency “Sever-Press”. As he notes, in total more than 65 million rubles were allocated to help children. The donations helped children with disabilities to pass medical rehabilitation in Russian and foreign clinics.

 

Comments were given in the department on science and innovations of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug on messages in mass media about “underground gas bubbles”.

 

Yamal topped the rating of Russian regions by the amount of investments per capita - 2050 million rubles. A share of Yamal made 72 percent in the total amount of investments of the Russian Arctic zone, on 6 percent higher than last year.

 

The ninth festival of national cultures “Meridian of friendship” of the Russian State Hydrometeorological University took place in Saint Petersburg. Students, national creative unions and regional associations of fellow-countrymen presented culture of their ethnic groups: traditions, national games, dances, decorative and applied art and national cuisine.

 

The Yamal find – the baby mammoth Lyuba went to Arkhangelsk. It will become a decoration of the cultural program of the international forum “The Arctic –Territory of Dialogue”. The event has been fulfilled since 2010; this is the largest platform for joint discussion of important problems and prospects of development of the Arctic region. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin will participate in the forum.

 

The Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East is completely ready to welcome the guests of the International forum “Indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East”, which will take place in Salekhard on the 23rd-25th of March. 70 craftspeople of decorative and applied art participating in the exhibition and performers from regions arrived to the regional capital on the 21st of March. The Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East intends to continue cooperation with the Association of Reindeer Herders of Russia.

 

600 delegates, guests and representatives invited to the International forum “Indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East” will participate in celebration of the Reindeer Herder’s Day in Salekhard on the 25th of March. The forum will start in the regional capital on the 23rd of March.

 

The annual 12th international exhibition and fair “Treasures of the North” will take place from the 27th of April to the 1st of May in Moscow.
