Gazprom is choosing a contractor for conducting of researches «The investment idea on development of resources of the Kara Sea».
The contractor is obliged to substantiate basic technical and technological decisions of building of LNG-plants, ports for offloading of LNG, its transportation with consideration of ice conditions.
The scheme should include complex development of Leningradskoye and Rusanovskoye fields and consider the opportunity to involve other 8 fields to work. By the data of the Ministry for energy, Leningradskoye and Rusanovskoye fields were discovered in 1992. Initial reserves of each of them make 3 trillion cubic meters. The Kara Sea washes the Yamal peninsula, where till 2017 NOVATEK together with Total and CNPC are going to build the LNG-plant. The company also studies the opportunity to build the second plant till 2022. In October the president of Rosneft Igor Sechin also spoke about possible building of a plant of LNG on the coast of the Kara Sea, as RIA «Noviy Region» informs. Rosneft has licenses for geological prospecting of three fields in the Kara Sea. On the website of Rosneft their gas resources are evaluated in 14 milliard and 600 million cubic meters.
A year ago Gazprom and NOVATEK conducted negotiations about joint production of liquefied natural gas on the base of extractive fields in Yamal and Gydan. But they did not come to an agreement. At that, Gazprom has a question of monetization of arctic gas, which is too expensive for delivery to a pipeline. In total gas reserves of Gazprom make about 35 trillion cubic meters. 5 trillion and 400 milliard of them are on the arctic shelf in the Barents Sea. Experts consider that at the most optimistic scenario not less than 10-12 years are necessary for prospecting of new areas and extractive fields of the Kara Sea, forming of resource base, elaborating of technical and economic substantiation, discussing and approving of investment decisions and building of new LNG-plants.
