This summer about 800 tourists will visit Russian Arctic National Park and the federal nature reserve Franz Joseph Land. 6 tourist journeys will be organized from June to September. It is planned to fulfill 5 of them by the nuclear-powered icebreaker «50 Let Pobedy». One more journey will be fulfilled on the cruise liner, which will go on the whole Northern Sea Route.
The first tourist path will be opened before the arrival of the travelers to the territory of Russian Arctic National Park. Architects, designers, ecologists and volunteers participated in its preparation. The ecological path is laid in the favorite point of landings of tourists – in the Calm (Tikhaya) Bay on Hooker Island. Now it is actively preparing to receive the guests. This information was given by the press-secretary of Russian Arctic National Park Yulia Petrova.
In the opinion of the director of the national park Roman Yershov, the number of tourists in «Russian Arctic» will grow during the coming years. By his words, in connection with stopping of cruises to the North Pole, tourist operators will search for alternative variants of arctic cruises. Opening of the permanent tourist route Spitsbergen – Franz Joseph Land – Novaya Zemlya and return can become one of the variants.
