The film «White Yagel» (White reindeer moss) was made on the basis of the novel by a Nenets woman-writer Anna Nerkagi. It was included to the basic contest program of the 36th Moscow International Film Festival.
It will take place from the 19th to the 28th of June. This information was given by the producer general of the company «DCfilm» Svetlana Dalskaya on her page in Facebook.
The film «White Yagel» is the first attempt of Russian cinematographers in the artistic form to show the world of tundra from inside. The film is made by the Moscow producer center «DCfilm», the head of the project is Vladimir Menshov. The budget of the film made more than 90 million rubles.
The film is based on the novels «Aniko of Nogo family» and «White Yagel». The talk in the film is about dramatic life of a young Nenets man. His beloved girl left for the regional center to study. Instead of following her, the young man stayed in tundra. The idea of the film is based on attitude of young people to traditions. Sometimes, in order to keep them, it needs to forget own desires.
As we should remind, the process of making the film took place in spring of 2013 on the territory of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Professional actors from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) played the main roles. People from Yamal were busy in crowd scenes of the film.
