Schoolchildren of Shuryshkarskiy district are having a rest on «Cedar Island»

The summer ethnographic session of the camp for children «Cedar Island» was opened in the village Khanty-Muzhi in Shuryshkarskiy district on the territory of the natural and ethnographic park-museum «Zhivun».
In nature the adolescents will get acquainted to history of the native land, national and applied art, traditions and rituals of Khanty people. This information was given to a correspondent of IA «Sever-Press» in the office of information and public relations at the district administration.
Each day will have thematic character. Thus, the day of the forest will include competitions on terrain orientation in the forest; the day of the river will include lessons on sailing a national boat — kaldanka. Children will visit language lessons, master-classes, lectures about nature of Yamal, sports tournaments and excursions. 24 participants of the session will taste dishes of northern cuisine. They will be divided into groups representing 3 districts and the town Tarko-Salye. The children will catch fish themselves using improvised fishing rods.
During ten days the participants of the session will master skills of wood and bone carving, will evaluate national cuisine and will travel. The organizers consider that the session will be interesting and impressive. The festival for craftspeople from the whole region will be opened in the settlement Khanty-Muzhi. The ceremonies of closing of the camp and the festival are planned for the 11th of July.
