A group of biologists went to the district of Sabetta for conducting of field researches.
The group includes employees of the scientific and research stationary center of the Institute of ecology of plants and animals at the Ural branch of the RAS in the town Labytnangi and also a scientific employee of the University of Tromso from Norway. The scientists plan to visit monitoring platforms laid by employees of the institute in 1970-s of last century. They will compare the data received for 40 years and will make a conclusion about changing in state of populations of some mammals and birds: lemmings, voles, arctic foxes, hares, reindeer, partridges, snowy owls, rough-legged buzzards. The field researches on Sabetta will be conducted according to modern methodologies tested by scientists during work in the basin of Yerkuta River. Besides, they plan to use innovative methods, for example, automatic photo-cameras to define the number of arctic foxes and to study their food ration. The scientists are going to inform about the results of the researches on the first World congress on arctic biological diversity, which will take place in Norway in December, as it is informed to a correspondent of IA «Sever-Press» in the press-service of the governor of Yamal.
