The council on issues of indigenous peoples of the North and Siberia renewed its work in Ural Federal Okrug under the leadership of the plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation Igor Kholmanskikh.
This information was given to a correspondent of IA «Sever-Press» by the director of the department on affairs of indigenous peoples of the North of Yamal Inna Sotruyeva. According to her words, two issues were discussed on the latest sitting of the council. On the first of them Yamal presented its practice of interaction between bodies of the executive power, local self-government and the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East. The participants of the conference recognized this practice as positive, in much as an example for other subjects of the Federation. Igor Kholmanskikh notes that Yamal and Yugra are leaders in this direction.
Issues of perfection of federal legislation touching upon life activity of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North and Siberia were discussed on the conference. The talk was about necessity to elaborate the regulation about the order of giving documents, which confirm conducting of nomadic way of life, also renewal of statistical observations over indigenous peoples of the North and adoption of the new law about reindeer husbandry.
