In August two groups of scientists from Tyumen will arrive to Yamal within the expedition «Yamal-Arctic 2014» to research permafrost in the district of the railroad line Obskaya-Bovanenkovo and also near Lake Sokhonto.
One of the groups of scientists and postgraduates of the Institute of the Earth Cryosphere is planning to work in the center «Vaskiny Dachi» in 25 kilometers from infrastructure of Bovanenkovo field. This stationary center is the most interesting platform to study natural changes of natural environment and landscapes, on which scientists worked during 15-20 years. Things that happen on areas with technogenic influence will be compared with results of researches of this territory. This information was given by doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences, the chief scientific employee Yelena Slagoda.
The second group of the scientists will go to Lake Sokhonto. A railroad line, sidings, stations, water intake structures and a motor-road going in parallel with the railroad line are situated here. They render technogenic influence. Geological and geo-cryological study was not conducted on this territory before, as IA «Tyumenskaya Linia» informs.
As we should note, 15 field groups – scientists from leading scientific institutes of Russia, Norway and Belgium (about 100 people) are participating in the scientific and research expedition «Yamal-Arctic 2014». They will go to Yamalskiy, Priuralskiy, Tazovskiy, Krasnoselkoup and Nadym districts to study state of vegetation cover, populations of birds and animals and also dynamics of permafrost.
