Japan will deliver liquefied natural gas by icebreakers from Yamal to Europe all year round

South Korean company Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co won the tender for building of 9 tankers for the project «Yamal LNG». The cost of the contract makes about 3 milliard dollars. The cost of each ship makes 316 million dollars. This information was given by the agency of economic information «PRIME».
The Canadian company Teekay will purchase 6 tankers from the South Korean builders for the project «Yamal LNG». Three other tankers will be purchased by the Japanese company Mitsui OSK Lines. As it is informed in the headquarters of the company, the strengthened icebreakers can transport up to 3 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year. For this aim Japan plan since 2018 to start up the first line in the world for round year transportations on the Arctic Ocean. The way from Yamal to Europe will take about 11 days, to Japan and other countries of East Asia – about 18 days.
As we should remind, the project «Yamal LNG» supposes building of the new plant on the basis of the South-Tambey field. Its production capacity will make 16 million 500 thousand tons of liquefied natural gas per year. Input of the enterprise to operation is planned for 2016.
