The first through navigation of the ships «Anadyr» and «Stalingrad» on the Northern Sea Route from Vladivostok to Murmansk was completed on the 16th of September of 1935. The journey started on the 23rd of June of 1935. Later during the record short time 175 passengers and 75 heads of cattle were transported from Vladivostok to Kolyma. Navigation took place not without difficulties, but the Arctic Ocean was conquered, as IA «Arktika-Info» informs.
During navigation the ships «Anadyr» and «Stalingrad», breaking through ices and fogs, alone and with help of icebreakers reached Igarka. From there on the 2nd of September, having finished cargo loading, the ships left for their journey to Murmansk. On the 5th of September they went to Dikson Island and passed farther to the Yugorsky Strait in the Barents Sea, in the middle of the first month of autumn the ships completed the journey, having entered the Kola Bay and moored in Murmansk. Thus, the Arctic Ocean was conquered by the ordinary cargo ships, which performed a row of cargo operations within the journey. The whole navigation lasted during 87 days, about 45 of which where spend on the moorage. During this time, the ships covered more than 7600 miles. Navigation of «Anadyr» and «Stalingrad» proved that the Northern Sea Route is prepared for navigation.
