Building of the military housing area «Northern Clover» in the form of a three-leaved clover and organizing of other elements of the arctic infrastructure is taking place on Kotelny Island on the archipelago the New Siberian Islands. This information was given to RIA «Novosti» by the chairperson of the Northern fleet Vadim Serga.
According to his words, 440 workers and about 120 units of building and special machinery are used in building process. 7 motor-driven vessels of Murmansk Shipping Company, which fulfills delivery of building materials and special equipment, is situated in the Stakhanovtsev Arktiki Bay beside the group of combat ships and support vessels.
The military housing area «Northern Clover», the town of the closed cycle, is being built with use of the most modern technologies. From the aerial view the town will remind a three-leaved clover painted in the colors of the Russian flag, as Vadim Serga says. According to his words, housing units, which provide comfortable accommodation for one — two people in each room, are being assembled on the pile-supported platform. A club, a gym and a sauna will be built in addition to residential and office buildings in the «Northern Clover». The military housing area will be equipped with a diesel-electric power station, a transformer substation, will have a complex of water-purifying and sewage constructions, a storage of fuels and lubricants, a refueling station and box-garages for storage of motor vehicles.
Active work of Russia in creation and development of elements of the Arctic infrastructure was started in 2012. Then for the first time in the history of the Russian Navy sea soldiers of the Northern Fleet fulfilled sea landing on the unequipped coast of Kotelny Island.
