The amount of cargo transportations in the port of Sabetta three times grew this year

More than 480 thousand tons of cargoes were brought into the port of Sabetta during 8 months. A considerable part of them – more than 450 thousand tons – is formed with dry cargoes, 25 thousand tons – petroleum products.
This information was given on the 4th Arctic oil and gas week by the chief of the administration of the Northern Sea Route Alexander Olshevskiy. In comparison to the same period of time of the previous year the amount of cargo transportations in the port of Sabetta more than three times increased.
As he tells, this year winter piloting of ships to Sabetta was fulfilled for the first time. Last year 145 thousand tons of cargoes were brought to the port till the first of September, this year – already 482 thousand tons, 200 thousand of them were transported in winter. Intensiveness of cargo transportations grows. Specialists look forward with hope, when the plant on liquefying of natural gas will be started up in Sabetta, and transportation of liquefied natural gas by ships gas carriers to the West, to the East, to the Asia-Pacific region will begin.
As we should note, on the 1st of October Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitriy Medvedev signed the decree about allocation of more than 70 milliard rubles for building of objects in the sea port of Sabetta and creation of the navigation approach channel in the Gulf of Ob for transportation of liquefied natural gas. The project should be fulfilled till 2020. The port will provide transshipment of LNG in the amount of 16 million and 500 thousand tons per year.
