The oil company «Rosneft» set a modern automatic station on Uedineniya Island and completely restored the system of meteorological observations in the Kara Sea. It became possible owing to the scientific and research expedition «Kara-summer-2014», which has been recently finished successfully.
During 57 days from the board of the modern scientific and expedition ship «Akademik Treshnikov» the scientists researched weakly studied parts of the Kara Sea, the Laptev Sea, the East Siberian Sea and the Chukchi Sea. Also work was conducted near coastlines of the archipelagoes Novaya Zemlya, Severnaya Zemlya and De-Long Islands.
During the expedition, within the full-scale program on restoration of the system of meteorological observations in the whole Arctic, the specialists of the company input to operation other two stations: on Preobrazheniya Island in the Laptev Sea and Zhokhov Island in the East Siberian Sea. Also they fulfilled prevention work on all earlier set stations on Novaya Zemlya. According to the information given to IA «Sever-Press» in the board of information policy of the company, now the stations send operative information to the system of Roshydromet – the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of Russia.
