The conference «TRANSTEC-2014» defined priorities in development of economy of the Northern Sea Route

The 12th international exhibition «TRANSTEC-2014» and the fourth international conference on development of ports and shipping took place in Saint-Petersburg. These events are organized by Maritime Collegium of the Government of the Russian Federation.
The sitting of the International Expert Council on Cooperation in the Arctic «The present and the future of the Northern Sea Route» organized by the Center for Strategic Assessments and Forecasts became one of main events of the conference. More than 60 people from Russia, India, Singapore, Canada, Poland, countries of the Nordic Council participated in the sitting.
The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs became the co-organizer of the exhibition and the conference and was represented by the union «Northern Industrialists and Entrepreneurs» with reports of two spokespersons. The deputy chairperson of the union, a member of the Arctic academy of sciences Vladimir Poteryakhin told about plans on creation of territories of advanced socioeconomic development in towns-ports of the Northern Sea Route, including, in Taymyr, Yamal, Yakutia and Murmansk Oblast. The first deputy chairperson of the union, candidate of economic sciences, professor of the Russian Academy of Natural History Alexander Fedotovskikh outlined priorities in development of transport and passenger aviation on the new stage of development of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route linked to the unified logistic system, which includes sea and river transport, as it is informed to IA «Sever-Press» in the press-service of the union «Northern Industrialists and Entrepreneurs».
The resolution of the International Expert Council on Cooperation in the Arctic, which includes suggestions for fulfillment by bodies of the state power of the federal level, became the result of the 4-hour discussion. Among the priorities there are: organizing of programs on sustainable ecological development at mining of deposits, introducing and fulfilling of international legal norms, technical and technological providing of the Northern Sea Route, new vectors of extending of the countries-participants of the Arctic Council, first of all, Russia as the leader in development of arctic spaces.
The conference «TRANSTEC-2014» took place at support of the Ministry for transport, the government of the Russian Federation and the Maritime Council of the Government of St. Petersburg, the Association of Sea Commercial Ports-ASOP, the Union «National Chamber of Shipping» of Russia, the Coordination Council for Trans-Siberian Transportation, the Association of Oil and Gas Equipment Producers and the Russian Union of Travel Industry.
