Gazprom is ready to help Rosneft to conduct work on drilling in the Kara Sea in 2015. It was declared by the deputy chairperson of the board of Gazprom Alexander Medvedev.
As it is declared by the deputy minister for energy of the Russian Federation Kirill Molodtsov earlier, Russia has platforms for drilling on the shelf of the Arctic, for example, the Arkticheskaya drilling platform built last year. Gazflot is its operator.
Also as he notes, only 8 Russian platforms are able to work in conditions similar to the Kara Sea, as it is informed on the portal neftegaz.ru.
As we should remind, Rosneft and the American ExxonMobil in the beginning of August started drilling the northernmost well in Russia – Universitetskaya – with the help of the platform West Alpha. It was delivered by the Norwegian North Atlantic Drilling, with which Rosneft in July of this year concluded long-term agreements on drilling on the shelf. On the 12th of September the USA imposed the new sanctions against Russia, including, the oil sector. On the 19th of September ExxonMobil informed that it was going out the project joint with Rosneft on drilling in the Kara Sea with the condition that drilling in the Kara Sea would last till the 10th of October.
On the 27th of September it became known that the field Pobeda was discovered at exploratory drilling of the well Universitetskaya-1.
