In 2016 Atomflot will continue the program of tourist excursions to the North Pole. It is informed in the press-service of the company. Icebreakers will deliver travelers to coasts of the Arctic, at least, till 2018. Earlier, it was informed that last 6 tourist voyages would take place in 2015.
According to the information given by the deputy director general on exploitation of the fleet Andrey Smirnov, work on restoration of the nuclear-powered icebreaker «Sovetsky Soyuz» will be completed in 2016, and not in 2017 as it was planned before. Thus, one more ship will appear. It will allow using the icebreaker «50 Let Pobedy» for cruises in July-August of 2016-2018. According to the information given by the partner of the company Poseidon Expeditions Nikolay Savelyev, the company already started negotiations with Atomflot about freighting of the icebreaker «50 Let Pobedy» in 2016 – 2018. All tickets to the cruises for next year are sold out.
As we should note, Atomflot has fulfilled cruises to the North Pole since 1990. Tourists were transported to the Arctic by nuclear-powered icebreakers «Rossiya», «Sovetsky Soyuz», «Yamal». After input of the icebreaker «50 Let Pobedy» to operation in 2007 such travels are fulfilled only on its board. A cruise lasts during 10 days. The cost of a ticket makes about 30 thousand dollars. This summer the icebreaker «50 Let Pobedy» made 5 tourist cruises to the Arctic. 500 people travelled during this time.
