The government of Archangelsk Oblast offered the initiative about creation of the interregional association of urban districts and municipalities of the Arctic zone of Russia. This information was given on the forum «To the glory of the Fleet and Fatherland» the governor Igor Orlov.
The offer was already supported by the Security Council of the Russian Federation. The corresponding agreement will be signed soon. Archangelsk Oblast, Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Republic of Komi will become the first participants of the association, as IA «Interfax» informs.
Only several regions were included into the Arctic zone as a whole, others are represented with separate municipalities. As Igor Orlov explains, specialists consider that this is one of serious directions, which requires for development of further approaches: what should municipalities do, being in the Arctic zone? It sets definite tasks on interaction and solving of many issues connected with development and exploration of the Arctic, as he notes.
The Arctic zone includes: the towns Archangelsk, Severodvinsk and Novodvinsk, Onezhsky, Primorsky and Mezensky districts and all islands of Archangelsk Oblast, also Murmansk Oblast and Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, the northern half of Yakutia, three districts of Karelia adjoining to the White Sea, the town Vorkuta (Komi Republic), Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the towns Norilsk, Igarka and Taymyr district of Krasnoyarsk Krai.
