Indian companies can be included to development and extraction of oil and gas in the Arctic. This information was given by the deputy minister for energy of the Russian Federation Yuriy Sentyurin by the results of the sitting of the Russian-Indian working group on energy and energy-efficiency.
As he notes, it is the first suggestion to Indian companies to participate in projects on exploration, development and extraction of hydrocarbons in Russia, including in the Arctic and Eastern Siberia, their processing and delivering. In particular, to the foreign partners it was suggested participating in gas projects of Russia. According to the words of Yuriy Sentyurin, now negotiations are taking place between NOVATEK and Indian companies about cooperation within LNG-projects in Yamal.
As he tells, till the end of November it is planned to create the working group for study of opportunities of on-land transportation of hydrocarbons from Russia to India. The first meeting of the group is scheduled for the beginning of next year. As we should note, India already suggested Russia working on the issue about building of this oil pipeline; however, Russia considered that this project was connected with big geopolitical risks as the oil pipeline could pass on the territory of Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, the opportunity to study the suggestions of the Indian side more closely appeared in conditions of sanctions, as RBC informs.
