The project on move and restoration of the monument of regional significance – the chapel of the 19th century – is being completed in Yamal. This work is being conducted within the Year of Culture in Russia. The chapel was situated in the district of the Yarudey River in Nadym district. Now it is moved and set in the yard of Saint Nikolay Temple in Nadym.
This information was given by the director of the department on culture of Yamal Yevgeniy Koltunov on the press-conference in Salekhard.
According to his information, the monument was restored by schematic drawings, which had been developed in design and estimate institutes, and with use of a tree of the 200-year-old age. Everything possible was transported and restored. According to his words, otherwise, the chapel would not survive this winter.
As the director of the department notes, the tree stub, on which the chapel stood, also was transported. The tree stub has interesting history: missioners saw the cedar in the form of a cross in taiga and considered it a sign. The tree was sawed and sent to Saint Petersburg. The chapel was built on its place. The legendary tree stub also was transported and set in the town Nadym. As Yevgeniy Koltunov says, in the end of November-the beginning of December it is planned to agree with the eparchy to present the project to inhabitants and guests of Nadym.
