Scientists of Tyumen suggest creating the Western-Siberian shale consortium for development of reserves of the Bazhenov Formation of Western Siberia. As the press-service of the Siberian scientific and analytical center informs, this suggestion was given on the recent international conference «Oil and Gas Western Siberia 2014.
Development of hard to recover resources: attracting investments and breakthrough technologies» in Tyumen by the deputy director general on science of the Siberian scientific and analytical center Ivan Nesterov.
The report on the methodology of search and development of difficult reserves of Western Siberia was prepared by the collective of authors under leadership of Anatoly Brekhuntsov. Search and development of oil potential of the Bazhenov Formation in Western Siberia, the amount of which, by the assessment of specialists, makes from 5 milliard to 20 and more milliard tons of extractable resources, has enormous strategic significance in modern geopolitical conditions. The academicians compare its development with such epochal projects of the 20th century as development of atomic energy, exploration of the outer space and creation of oil and gas complex on Tyumen land. In the opinion of specialists of the Siberian scientific and analytical center, companies-developers should search and develop these reserves together. The North-American and Global shale consortiums can be analogues for that. Complete openness of materials of geological field researches and results of industrial exploitation should become principles of work for companies-members of the Western-Siberian shale consortium. It needs to create the unified informational databank, which will include results of geological, seismic and logging researches, hydrodynamic modeling, data on available methods of drilling-in and development of bituminous sediments. Besides, it needs to elaborate methods of search, exploration, assessment of resources, calculation and development of difficult reserves of hydrocarbon raw materials and approval of normative and legal documents on licensing and taxation.
