More than 300 tons of metal scrap was transported from Beliy Island

More than 300 tons of metal scrap was removed from Beliy Island from the 9th of November to the 10th of December.
This information was given by the director of the Russian center for exploration of the Arctic Vladimir Pushkaryov and the deputy director of the Arctic ecological expedition Sergey Dyatchenko in Salekhard within the press-conference by the results of the autumn-winter stage of ecological work on the object.
6 employees of the company «The Arctic ecological expedition» during a month conducted work on cleaning of the island. They collected and transported metal scrap collected within the summer ecological campaign. Basically there were empty casks, some with fuel on the bottom. The polar night is on the island now. The employees worked at night and in snow storms, correspondingly, visibility was very bad. They cut available casks and dragged them aside to the spit. This information was given by Sergey Dyatchenko.
According to the words of Vladimir Pushkaryov, at removal of metal scrap big attention is paid to ecological safety of the island. In November snow on Beliy Island is about 20 centimeters. Thus, damage to ecological system of the island is not done. This is the seventh but not the last expedition. In spring it needs again to gather volunteers. There are hard-to-reach places on the island. Now preparatory work is conducted.
The seventh expedition was organized by the department of international and external economic relations of Yamal and the Russian center for exploration of the Arctic.
