Winners for the trip to the North Pole will be chosen on the youth forum «The Arctic Expedition»

The first stage of the International youth forum «The Arctic Expedition» was started in Tver Oblast on Lake Seliger.
150 young people from Russia and 7 countries of the Arctic Council — Denmark, Canada, Norway, the USA, Finland, Sweden and Iceland – arrived to it. These are students, scientists, representatives of public organizations and research institutes, whose scientific interests are connected with the Arctic. As we should remind, junior researchers of the scientific center for study of the Arctic from Salekhard Ruslan Ilyasov and Rostislav Loktev became the participants of the first stage of the expedition.
During 6 days the participants of the forum will live in a campground that is specially adapted for low temperatures. They will participate in intellectual and adventure games, contests and lectures.
Among the honored guests of the forum there are leading researchers, specialists and experts on development of the Arctic and the Arctic region, representatives of the scientific society, the power and the business. The minister for energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, the ambassador at large of the Ministry for foreign affairs of the Russian Federation Valery Kenyaykin, a representative of Russia in the Arctic Council Vladimir Barbin, the first vice-president of the Russian Geographical Society Artur Chilingarov, the chief executive officer of the geological holding «Rosgeo» Roman Panov are also honored guests of the youth forum.
Several winners, who will go to the Russian drifting polar station «Barneo» in April, will be defined by the results of the first stage of the forum. From there they will go the North Pole. The action «The Parade of Flags of Russian Regions» dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War will take place during the expedition to the ice station «Barneo».
