Terms of input of the new nuclear-powered icebreakers to operation will not be postponed

The formed economic situation will not influence on terms of building of the new nuclear-powered icebreakers. According to the words of the director general of Rosatomflot Vyacheslav Ruksha, the lead nuclear-powered icebreaker will be tested in the end of 2017.
It is planned to input to operation the first universal nuclear-powered icebreaker LK-60 (the lead ship), which is being built on the Baltiysky Zavod (Baltic shipyard), not later than the end of 2017. The second icebreaker, as it is expected, will be input to operation not later than the end of 2019-the beginning of 2020, and the third one – not later than the end of 2020-the beginning of 2021.
The new nuclear-powered icebreakers received the names «Arktika», «Sibir» and «Ural». They are able to overcome almost three-meter perennial ices. The new icebreakers will be able to provide piloting of ships with loading capacity up to 100 thousand tons, as IA «Arktika Info» informs.
