The complex scientific program will be elaborated for study of the Yamal funnel

The system of year-round scientific stationary centers will be created in Yamal. Two of them will be situated in the basin of the Yerkuta River and in the district of Bovanenkovo field. They will appear already this year. Other two will be opened next season – on the Gydan peninsula and in the district of Sabetta.
This information was given by the director of the department on science and innovations of Yamal Aleksey Titovskiy on the press-conference.
As he notes, the scientific stationary centers will be situated near large infrastructural objects in order the scientists both from Yamal and their colleagues from leading Russian institutes would be able to come and conduct researches in year-round mode, to evaluate influence of industrial development on the environment.
Also he told that this year the scientists of Yamal would continue archeological excavations – on Ust-Poluy and in the district of Zelyoniy Yar. Now together with their colleagues from the Russian center for exploration of the Arctic they are preparing the complex program of researches of the Yamal funnel. Its occurrence aroused big resonance last year. Three expeditions were sent there. Its studying will be continued. One more trip of Russian scientists there is planned for April, as Aleksey Titovskiy adds.
Besides, the project on study of the Kara population of the polar bear on Beliy Island will be started in 2015; the big conference dedicated to protection of rare species of birds will take place in autumn in Salekhard.
As we should note, the press-conference of the director of the regional department on science and innovations took place before the Day of Russian Science. It is celebrated on the 8th of February every year.
