The forum of dredging companies was completed in Moscow. Leading Russian and foreign specialists and representatives of departments interested in development of sea port infrastructure gathered on it. Building of the arctic port of Sabetta became the most interesting project for discussion on the forum, as the regional state television and radio broadcasting company «Yamal-region» informs.
In total, according to the words of the experts, about 80 million cubic meters of ground should be removed during the dredging work on water area of the port of Sabetta. The work has been conducted since 2012. The company «USK MOST» is the general contractor. During three years it finished the preparatory stage, conducted work in the district of loading berths and started creation of the sea channel on approaches to the port. More than 30 million tons of bottom ground were removed during three navigation seasons. This is the largest dredging work that was conducted in the Arctic. The specialists underline that building of the port is conducted in difficult climate and ice conditions. A period of navigation that allows conducting this work and delivering heavy cargoes by water is very short – not more than 70 days from August to October.
At creation of the sea navigation channel in 2014 workers extracted more than 21 million cubic meters of ground. At that, the fleet of 19 specialized vessels was used – one self-propelled suction-cutter dredger, two dump scows, six trailing suction-hopper dredgers, 10 auxiliary vessels, one of them is a floating hotel for comfortable accommodation of crews. In 2015 it is planned to extract 17 million and 500 thousand cubic meters of ground.
As we should remind, the project «Yamal LNG» foresees building of the plant with capacity 16 million and 500 thousand tons of liquefied gas per year on the basis of the South-Tambey field and creation of transport infrastructure, including the sea port and the airport in the district of the settlement Sabetta in Yamal. The project is fulfilled by NOVATEK together with Total (France) and CNPC (China).
