Dmitriy Kobylkin and the representatives of the United Nations Organization laid flowers to the Eternal Flame

The governor of Yamal Dmitriy Kobylkin and the delegation of the United Nations Organization participated in the ceremony of laying flowers to the Eternal Flame in the Victory Park.
The chairperson of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues Dalee Dorough, the vice-governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Irina Sokolova, chairperson of the Legislative Assembly of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Sergey Kharyuchi and the president of the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East, a deputy of the State Duma Grigory Ledkov participated in the action. They observed a minute of silence in the honor of those people, who had not come back from the battlefront of the Great Patriotic War.
Each fifth person went to the battlefront from Yamal. In 1941 in total 49 thousand people lived in the region, 8982 of them went to the battlefront. All of them bravely fought for peace and freedom of their Motherland. Each fourth – 2281 – did not come back. About 2000 people died on battlefields, 172 were gone missing, more than 200 died of wounds in hospitals. 8 people of Yamal were awarded with the highest military award – the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union.
