The governor of Yamal insists on identification of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North

In Salekhard on the briefing within the visiting intersessional sitting of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues the governor of Yamal Dmitriy Kobylkin presented important topics of his report, on which he had spoken within the conference of the Security Council of Russia.
It took place in Khanty-Mansiysk under the chairpersonship of Nikolay Patrushev.
According to the words of the governor, important problems that required for additional work on Russian legislation were presented in his report. For example, an issue connected with identification of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North. There is no line «nationality» in a passport. A document that confirms belonging of a citizen of the Russian Federation to ethnic minorities is necessary. It is very important for protection of their rights and providing of sustainable development.
According to the information of the head of the region, necessity to adopt the law about reindeer husbandry, state support of people conducting traditional way of life, were discussed on the Security Council. There are some difficulties on the regional level towards solving of some problems caused by gaps in the federal legislation. Decisions elaborated on the sitting of the Security Council will be reflected in the report for the President of the Russian Federation.
