From Kazan through Salekhard by dog-sleds to the Arctic Ocean

For the first time the unique expedition to the coast of the Arctic Ocean will be started on the 5th of March in the town Kazan. According to the words of the head of the club «Kazanskaya Ekspeditsiya» («Kazan expedition») Dmitriy Murzin, its participants will reach Salekhard by motor-cars and then will go by dog-sleds more than 1000 kilometers through the northernmost peak of the Urals – the Konstantinov Kamen Mountain and further to the coast of the Arctic Ocean.
Aboriginal northern huskies will transport the participants of the expedition to the Arctic Ocean, as «Sobytiya» informs. As Dmitriy Murzin explains, a sled of 8 dogs can develop speed up to 20 kilometers per hour. 300-400 kilograms in a sled is not a problem.
The participants were preparing to the expedition during the whole winter. According to their words, the expedition is included into sports trips of high category of difficulty. They plan to spend 27 days on their way. They will come back home in April.
