The photo-exhibition dedicated to the Arctic was opened in Moscow

The photo-exhibition «The Arctic: yesterday, today, tomorrow» was opened in Moscow on Tverskoy Boulevard. The famous polar explorer Artur Chilingarov and the vice-president of Rosneft Mikhail Leontyev participated in the opening ceremony. They shared their impressions about wonderful travels to the Arctic and stories of creation of these art-works.
According to the words of Artur Chilingarov, the special presidential envoy on international cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic, a member of the Board of directors of the company «Rosneft», he was on the North Pole many times, he saw the Arctic from board of an icebreaker, a helicopter, an aircraft. But every time he comes to the Polar area he is enchanted with its beauty.
The photo-exhibition will allow visitors learning about history of exploration of the Arctic, seeing its wonderful landscapes and nature. Also they can try to look into the future of this northernmost part of out planet, to evaluate unique beauty of this region, its unusual flora and fauna and also to see a place of a human in the world of endless ice and snow and the beginning of economic development of the shelf in works by modern photographers. Among the authors of the art-works there are famous photo-artists and photographers-beginners, as the institute of regional problems informs.
The exposition is being conducted at support of the Russian Geographical Society, the department of culture of Moscow and the company «Rosneft». It will last till the end of April.
