The expedition «To the north from Konstantinov Kamen» will take place in Yamal to the 170th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society

The snowmobile expedition of the Yamal regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society «To the north from Konstantinov Kamen» is starting in the town Labytnangi. It is dedicated to the 170th anniversary since foundation of the Russian Geographical Society.
The head of the expedition Sergey Chizhik with a team of like-minded people from different Russian towns will go by snowmobiles to the coast of the Kara Sea on the traces of the first expedition equipped by the Imperial Russian geographical society. The journey will pass through Konstantinov Kamen in forty-five kilometers away from the Baydaratskaya Bay of the Kara Sea, where the memorial sign in the honor of the 170th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society will be installed. The travelers will visit Obruchev glacier, the coast of the Kara Sea and the extreme eastern point of Europe.
According to the information given to a correspondent of IA «Sever-Press» by the chairperson of the Yamal branch of the Russian Geographical Society Igor Sharovatov, Sergey Chizhik is a member of the Russian geographical society. He lives in Labytnangi and works at the company «SGK-Transstroy». This is not his first trip. In April 2013 the snowmobile expedition «In the footsteps of Arctic gods» went from Labytnangi to the Northern point of Vaygach Island – Bolvanskiy Nos (Cape of Idols).
