Cartographers of Yamal became the winners of the prestige international contest

The 21st conference ESRI in Russia and countries of the CIS took place in Moscow.
This is a yearly activity that gathers heads, specialists of geo-information systems, experts, IT-managers, financiers, marketers, engineers from commercial organizations, bodies of the state power, scientific and educational establishments. This year forum was attended by 355 participants and 155 organizations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Great Britain, Russia.
As the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs, the contest «The map gallery» was organized within the conference. The chief of the cartography branch at the state institution of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug «Resources of Yamal» Vladimir Trofimchuk presented a map of Beliy Island made by employees of the institution to the jury. It was created on the basis of archive materials of the field diary of 1928 written by a polar explorer, an ethnographer, a researchers, as scientific employee of the All-Union Arctic Institute Vladimir Yevladov (the note: now it is the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute).
In total more than 25 companies, organizations and educational institutions participated in the contest. Among them there were: Greenpeace Russia, the geographical faculty of Moscow State University, Altai State Technical University, the Institute for Water and Environmental Problems of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, VNIIOkeangeologia named after I.S. Gramberg, JSC «Rosengineering Project» and others. The cartography branch of the state institution «Resources of Yamal» was recognized the winner by the results of the open voting.
The specialists of the cartography branch of the institution «Resources of Yamal» have 15 years of experience on creation of common geographical and thematic specialized maps. Products of the cartography branch of the institution are popular on the territory of the region and beyond its limits.
