The snowmobile route «North» will go through Salekhard to the Arctic Ocean

Next year the snowmobile route «North» will connect Yekaterinburg with the Arctic Ocean. The head of the company «Klub Iskatelei Priklyucheniy» («The club of adventure seekers», Yekaterinburg) Konstantin Kuznetsov is the author of the project.
The route with the length 2500 kilometers will go on the territory of three regions – Sverdlovsk Oblast, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Preparation to the expedition has been already started.
According to the information given to a correspondent of IA «Sever-Press» by the press-secretary of the project Dmitriy Antonenkov, the expedition will take place in two stages. Start by snowmobiles from Yekaterinburg is planned for the 11th of January of 2016. On the 24th of January the travelers will arrive to the settlement Pripolyarniy (Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug). The second stage of the expedition will be started from there. The participants will start the expedition on the 24th of March to Salekhard and plan to arrive to the coast of the Arctic Ocean till the 8th of April.
Selection of the expedition participants is taking place now. It will include 6-7 people. According to the words of Dmitriy Antonenkov, during this season it is important to lay the route, to mark on the map. Next time it is planned to organize places for overnight stops and refueling of snowmobiles and to provide them with everything necessary. The expedition is supported by the Russian Geographical Society.
