Alexander Romanov, an employee of the company «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg», became one of the winners of the photo-contest «The most beautiful country» of the Russian Geographical Society.
His work «The Little Warg» was recognized the best in the nomination «Peoples of Russia». The award was given by the president of the Russian Geographical Society Sergey Shoygu within the opening ceremony of the second festival of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow. This information was given to IA «Sever-Press» in the service on public relations and communication with mass media of «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg».
The winner made his photo on the Taz Peninsula. It depicts a boy Danila (Komi by nationality) and a peregrine falcon. As Alexander Romanov tells, the boy was able to tame the wild bird, feeding with reindeer meat. In the result they became good friends. The name of the photo comes from the popular novel by George R. R. Martin «Game of Thrones» (A Song of Ice and Fire) that mentions wargs – skin changers, people, who can enter minds of animals at a distance, see through their eyes and control their minds.
More than about 25 thousand people from the whole world participated in the photo-contest «The most beautiful country». They sent about 200 thousand works. First, it was planned to choose one winner, but the result of voting became unexpected. The jury decided to give awards to 11 authors, proceeding from the number of nominations. For their original photographs each laureate received a certificate on 500 thousand rubles and the right to participate in one of the brightest expeditions of the Russian Geographical Society.
