The ship was named «BigRoll Barentsz». It will start working in Yamal in March of 2016. This is the first of 4 ships being built for the project. The company «NOVATEK» is its operator. The second ship under the name «BigRoll Bering» should be launched to water in December, and next May it will be at disposal of NOVATEK. Other two ships will arrive in the second half of next year and in the beginning of 2017. As it is informed on the website teknoblog.ru, all ships of the series are designed for temperatures up to 39C degrees of frost. The company «BigRoll Shipping» (the Netherlands) is the owner of the ships. The first two ships will conclude the many-year contract with the company «Yamgaz» at once after their arrival to working places.
As we should remind, in the end of the October the French company «Bureau Veritas» (inspection and certification services) announced that it would provide classification of the series of 15 LNG-tankers also purposed for «Yamal LNG». They are being built in the shipyard in South Korea. «Sovcomflot», MOL, Teekay and Dynagas will become the owners of the ships. All LNG-carriers will be launched to water during next 4 years.
The project «Yamal LNG» supposes development of the South-Tambey gas field and building of the plant. The new ships will allow exporting 16 million and 500 thousand tons of liquefied natural gas every year. Each of these tankers-icebreakers with the length 300 meters can take on board 172 thousand cubic meters of liquefied natural gas.
