The project of a container carrier for the Northern Sea Route was presented in Saint Petersburg on the sitting of the scientific and technical council at the Central Scientific Research Institute of Marine Fleet.
The arctic container carrier of unrestricted area of navigation is a single-deck diesel-electric ship with an icebreaking bow tip. The vessel is purposed for year-round transportation of containers of international class, including refrigerators, on high-latitude lines of the Northern Sea Route. As it is informed on the portal arctic-info.ru, the ship responds to requirements of equipping for long-time exploitation at low temperatures – up to 40C degrees of frost. Hydraulic fluids and lubricating oils, which stay suitable at these temperatures, are used in the system. All exterior doors are equipped with a heating cable. Stairs, platforms and railings of all exterior ladders are heated.
The length of the container carrier makes 237 meters, the width – 32 meters. The number of the crew makes 30 people.
