Yamal will conduct the international forum «Preservation and sustainable development of the Arctic»

On the 26th-27th of November Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug will conduct the third international arctic legal forum «Preservation and sustainable development of the Arctic: legal aspects» in Saint Petersburg.
Leading legal experts, scientists, researchers of the North, representatives of the public and the power will become its participants.
It is planned that the plenary sitting on the theme «The human dimension of the Arctic: the society and the law» on the first day of work of the forum will be opened by the chairperson of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the chairperson of the guardian council at the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin.
The governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitriy Kobylkin will speak on the basic report. He actively advances interests of the Russian Arctic within fulfillment of the Arctic strategy of the country.
As we should remind, on the 20th of November in Moscow on the joint sitting of the presidium of the expert council on the Arctic and the Antarctic at the Federation Council of Russia and the State commission on the Arctic development Dmitriy Kobylkin spoke about special significance of perfection of normative and legal base for sustainable development of polar territories of the country. It is necessary for providing of inculcation of global large industrial and infrastructural projects on polar territories, for preservation of unique culture and traditional way of life of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, for protection of fragile northern nature and forming of really comfortable conditions for work and life in districts of the Far North.
On the forum in Saint Petersburg the head of Yamal intends to concretize suggestions, which will assist to more effective and careful development of northern territories, he will call the participants to unite efforts, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
Sections with interactive broadcasting on the following topics are planned within the forum: «The society and the law on high latitudes», «Resource potential of the Arctic: legal aspects of development», «The Arctic in the light of international law».
It is expected that concrete recommendations on development and inculcation of optimal mechanisms of legal regulation orientated on adjusted balance in the triad of state and public interests, interests of the indigenous peoples of the North and of nature users will be adopted by the results of the forum. Directions of development of international legal regulation of regime of the Arctic and other issues important for sustainable development of arctic regions of the country will not stay without attention.
