The governor of Yamal enumerated three main achievements of the region

Before the 85th anniversary of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug the governor of Yamal Dmitriy Kobylkin enumerated three main achievements of the region. They are: move of the region away from the trend «a territory working on a rotational basis»; industrial development of the Arctic; development of own scientific base.

«First of all, we absolutely moved away from understanding of Yamal as of a territory of work on a rotational basis. We proved that Yamal is able to educate own specialists for development of the Arctic.
Second, already in the Arctic we have infrastructural projects, which were started up and will be started up first in the world. Work, which will be fulfilled on the territory of the region, has been never done in other parts of the Earth. Each our step is innovative. We attract science to the Arctic.
Third, it is globally important for Yamal and the Arctic that science would go ahead of fuel and energy complex, any industrial development. For example, Beliy Island in the Kara Sea is becoming the island of science. In my opinion, the whole Arctic zone should be formed this way. Exactly here, in these high latitudes, our scientific centers should be situated. It should become practical platform of the Arctic», as Dmitriy Kobylkin says.
