The Northern Sea Route should become a year-round transport artery. As the deputy chairperson of the government of Russia Dmitriy Rogozin declares on the fifth international forum «The Arctic: present and future» in Saint Petersburg, input of new icebreakers being built now to operation will assist. In his opinion, fulfillment of the project of the railroad line Belkomur (BELoye More (the White Sea) – KOMi– URal region) also will play a big role in attracting of cargoes for the Northern Sea Route. Belkomur will become a part of the Chinese project of the new Silk Road.
The program «The 21st Century Maritime Silk Route» is a part of the strategy of economical development of China «One Belt, One Road». It is directed to creation of infrastructure and adjustment of relations with neighbor countries, to which Chinese investors plan to transfer production capacities and technologies. As it is specified on the website portnews.ru, on the new Silk Road Russia entered the list of 10 priority directions of Chinese investments by the results of last year, having taken the 6th line on the sum of attracted external Chinese investments.
