Next year the excursion route «The Valley of Greenstones» will appear in Yamal

Next year excursion routes within the natural monument «Nyrdvomen-Shor» will be prepared in Yamal. The guidebook with the common title «The travel to the Valley of Greenstones» will be compiled.

This year became a decisive in tourist life of the region. It is connected with appearing of objects, which became bright tourist brands of the region, in Polar Ural zone. The expedition to the district of the most famous and popular natural monument «Nyrdvomen-Shor» was conducted. It is known among tourists and «The Valley of Greenstones». Participants of the expedition defined 9 objects of the greenstone and one object of the jadeite, made a cadastre and an album with photographs and documents of the marked points. Popularity of the territory was formed both with legends of large deposits of the greenstone, which was extracted in 1974-80, and also with beauties of the surrounding landscapes with the mountain «Dinosaur» and the cult waterfall «Nefritoviy» (Greenstone waterfall), mountain lakes and perennial firn fields. During geological work and scientific researches the territory was recognized as etalon for Ural region on visual image, representativeness and comfort. Availability of different natural resources (chrome, manganese, copper) and also not ores (greenstones, jadeites, jaspers, rodingites, topazolites, demantoids, uvarovites) was set on the area. In spite of the fact that the greenstone and the jadeite, as raw materials, are not interesting because of their low quality but their significance as of points of geological legacy and excursion-tourist objects is very considerable.
Ivan Popov studied «The Valley of Greenstones» at conducting of geological work. There are no doubts that the list of objects of greenstones and jadeites will be extended in the course of preparing of excursion routes on the valley, as he notes. There are no such analogous tourist objects anywhere in Russia and Europe. Interest to the greenstone is high permanently, as he says. In his opinion, the tourist object «The Valley of Greenstones» as a brand of the Polar Ural region will be interesting for tourist society. Besides, the district of the landscape and geological monument «Nyrdvomen-Shor» is an ideal place for training students-geologists, conducting educational practical work and excursions.
The geologist also notes that work on opening of tourist potential of natural monuments as of objects of geological legacy in considerable degree will define further tourist attractiveness of the area.
