This year the amount of cargo transportations on the Northern Sea Route increased on 1 million and 200 thousand tons and made 5 million and 100 thousand tons.
Such data were given within the international forum «The Arctic: present and future» by the deputy head of the Administration of the Northern Sea Route Nikolay Monko. As he notes, the number of ships that passed on the Northern Sea Route was on several tens bigger than in 2014. Among them there were Chinese ships that planned to work on the permanent basis.
The Administration of the Northern Sea Route gave permissions for passing to 697 ships, including 124 foreign ones. Anti-Russian sanctions did not influence on cargo transportations, as he informs.
Nikolay Monko underlines that decrease in transit through the Northern Sea Route this year is connected not with worsening of work but with finishing of fulfillment of several large projects, which needed transit in big amounts.
Till the middle of 2016 it is planned to define a financial-economical model of development of the Northern Sea Route, which will define its future till 2030, as TASS informs. The technical task for preparation of the concept has been already formed. Till the end of the year it is supposed to conduct the contest. In January 2016 it is planned to sign the contract.
