Representatives of Yamal entered the council on the Arctic and the Antarctica

The council on the Arctic and the Antarctica was formed at the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. The permanently acting expert and consultative body, which was headed by the representative of the committee of the Federation Council on defense and security Vyacheslav Shtyrov, will be busy with analysis of Russian legislation and law enforcement practice on issues of fulfillment of policy and providing of national interests of Russia in the Arctic and the Antarctica.

The council will prepare suggestions of the Federation Council about bringing in changes to the acting legislation, will participate in the expertise of large Russian and foreign projects, will fulfill monitoring of implementation of state policy and providing national interests of the Russian Federation in the Arctic and the Antarctica.
From the side of Yamal the council includes the deputy chairperson of the regional parliament Sergey Kharyuchi. Interests of the region will be also presented by senators from the region – the chairperson of the committee of the Federation Council on economic policy Yuriy Neyolov and a member of the committee of the Federation Council on federal structure, regional policy, local government and northern affairs Alexander Yermakov and a member of the committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on affairs of nationalities Grigory Ledkov.
