Vyborg Shipyard laid the first icebreaker for work on the terminal of Novoportovskoye field

Laying the first serial ship of icebreaking support for the company «Gazprom Neft» was started on Vyborg Shipyard. In total two such ships will be built. The icebreakers will work on the arctic terminal of Novoportovskoye field situated on the Yamal peninsula.
According to the contract, both ships will be sent to the customer till 2018. The ship of icebreaking support will be built on the newest project that provides high icebreaking capability and considerable maneuverability with a relatively small draft of vessel. Its concept with three steerable thrusters will allow conducting operations in difficult conditions of the supposed district of work in maximum effectively.
Basic tasks of the icebreakers include: icebreaker support of tankers, help at conducting of mooring and loading operations, rescuing operations, towing of ships, fire fighting, participation in operations on liquidation of oil spills. The ships also should have the opportunity of uninterrupted work at the temperatures up to 50C degrees of frost, as it is informed on the portal neftegaz.ru.
As we should remind, the lead icebreaking support vessel that is being built by the order of the company «Gazprom Neft Novy Port» was laid on the third of November. It received the name Alexander Sannikov.
