By cargo turnover Sabetta will exceed the port in Murmansk

Building of the new arctic port of Sabetta in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is one of projects, which arouses interest of Rosatomflot.

By cargo turnover Sabetta will exceed the port of Murmansk considerably. It was declared by the deputy director general, the chief engineer of Rosatomflot Mustafa Kashka on the sitting of the public council on issues of safe use of nuclear power in Murmansk Oblast.

As he notes, by 2020 transshipment of 25-30 million tons of oil products will be conducted in the port of Sabetta. At that, amounts of work in the port of Murmansk make 17-18 million tons per year, as IA «Regnum» informs.
Now those pipelines, which are directed from central Siberia to China and ports of the Far East, contain 67 million and 500 thousand tons of oil. Demand makes more than 100 million. There is a prospect of laying new points to the Gulf of Ob and transportation of oil by sea. It is left to complete about 200 kilometers of the pipeline. Only in the Gulf of Ob the guaranteed transshipment will make 25-30 million tons. In other words, the port, which will exceed the port of Murmansk by its cargo turnover, in fact appeared during 5 years, as he underlines.
As we should remind, the port of Sabetta being built in Yamal should become the key element of transport infrastructure of the project «Yamal LNG», which foresees creation of the plant on liquefying of natural gas on resource base of the South-Tambey field. Building of the port will create the foundation for development of extractive fields on the Yamal peninsula and the Gulf of Ob. Sabetta will function during the whole year round.
