Building of the oil pipeline «Eastern Siberia – the Pacific Ocean» was completed nine months ahead of the schedule.
A new brand ESPO abbreviated from the name of the project appeared owing to that on the global market.
According to forecasts of analysts, input of the largest oil pipeline to operation will begin a new round of development of oil and gas industry, and 2016 in Yamal can become the last year of falling of oil extraction.
Another large-scale project of fuel and energy complex of Russia — startup of Pyakyakhinskoye field of «LUKOIL» is associated with input to operation of the oil pipeline. Initial extractable reserves in the field make 69 million tons of oil and 253 milliard and 600 million cubic meters of natural gas. In total in Pyakyakhinskoye field it is planned to drill 420 wells, 219 of which – oil wells, 105 – injection wells, 96 – gas wells. Input of the field into industrial operation is planned in 2016 simultaneously with input to operation of the main oil pipeline Zapolyarye — Purpe. Currently exploitation drilling is being conducted; it was preceded with building of the energy complex.
In addition, the company»Gazprom Neft» increases oil production in several fields. Thus, in January of last year the company «Gazpromneft – Yamal» started building of the second phase of Novoportovskoye oil, gas, condensate field, input to operation of which will allow providing transportation of not less than 5 million and 500 thousand tons of oil per year. As the press service of the governor of Yamal informs, since 2016 offloading of raw materials will be fulfilled with use of the remote arctic oil terminal of tower type located in the Gulf of Ob near the settlement Mys Kamenniy. The new brand of oil called Novy Port is classified as light with low content of sulfur (about 0.1 percent).
The governor of Yamal Dmitry Kobylkin in his comments notes that current extractable oil reserves on the territory of Yamal are estimated in 4 milliard and 900 million tons. Industrial development of extractive fields in Yamal, such as the East-Messoyakhskoye, the West-Messoyakhskoye, Russkoye, Urengoyskoye with total extractable oil reserves in 1 milliard and 500 million tons will allow more than two times increasing production in the region by 2020 – up to 44 million tons, as Dmitry Kobylkin notes.
Last year oil extraction in the region was fulfilled by 20 enterprises in 63 fields. According to preliminary calculations, in total they extracted 21 million tons of oil. Affiliated enterprises of «Gazprom Neft» and «Rosneft» stay major oil-extracting enterprises.
Decrease in oil production in the region made approximately four percent of total oil production in 2014. The falling is explained with the fact that enterprises operate in fields with high depletion of reserves, falling oil extraction and high water cutting of wells. Oil companies are interested in stopping of exploitation of marginal wells, what allows avoiding losses on these wells.
