Yamal accumulated colossal experience on environmental protection. This information was given to a correspondent of IA “Sever-Press” by the director of the department of nature-resource regulation, forestry relations and development of oil and gas complex of Yamal Yulia Chebotaryova.
According to her words, Yamal was one of the first regions, where the system of ecological monitoring was created. 15 monitoring background areas work in Yamal. Specialists regularly take samples, collect and process information, keep the situation under control. Besides, the system of ecological monitoring includes representatives of fuel and energy complex. They also conduct such work on their licensed areas. 40% of licensed areas are included to the unified territorial system of observation within constructive building of relations between the executive power of the region and subsoil users. This year it is planned to bring this index to 70%.
This experience is unique. The unified integrated system of ecological monitoring was created in Yamal, as the director of the department says. As she notes, coordinated work of bodies of the power and fuel and energy complex allow seeing the picture from all sides.
Yamal is exposed to the strongest anthropogenic influence, since intense arrangement of extractive fields, extraction of hydrocarbons are conducted here. Therefore, special attention is paid to environmental issues in the region. The head of the region Dmitriy Kobylkin defined the main priorities for ensuring environmental security. They include: evaluation of state of ecological systems, monitoring of water objects, protection of water biological resources, and, of course, development of forestry. All this in the region is carried out with use of methods of program-target regulation, two powerful programs work in the region, starting with 2014 – “Environmental protection” and “Forestry development”. They are calculated till 2020. They give positive results, as Yulia Chebotaryova says.
As she tells, the region is rich with water resources. There are 30 thousand lakes and 50 thousand rivers here. Protection of water objects and monitoring of their state is also one of the most important environmental components. Annually specialists assess state of bottom of lakes and rivers, banks and shores, water-protecting areas and change of morphometric characteristics of water objects. Observation was organized within the boundaries of 24 settlements and on 30 areas of water objects. Experts plan a row of measures for their protection or restoration on the basis of observations and field work.
