Prospects of development of the Arctic were discussed within the youth forum

The participants of the forum “The Arctic. Made in Russia” discussed specifics of activity of oil and gas complex of Russia in conditions of sanctions, promising elaborations for icebreaker fleet and socioeconomic development of northern territories.
The deputy minister of energy of the Russian Federation Kirill Molodtsov, the head of the Federal agency on affairs of nationalities Igor Barinov and the deputy director general of Krylov State Research Center Vladimir Dyukov spoke on the panel session.
According to the words of Kirill Molodtsov, the tasks being solved today create new technologies and drivers of growth, which will be required actively during the coming 20 years. As he notes, Russia has the most qualified specialists working in the Arctic zone of Russia in complicated climate conditions. Therefore, creation of competent measures of their protection should become one of the priority tasks in development of the North, as it is informed on the portal arctic-info.ru.
Igor Barinov underlines that the time of wild development of the Arctic zone, when oil and gas extracting companies did not pay attention to ecology and people residing on these territories, came to an end. According to his words, it needs to regulate legislative base the way that resource-extracting companies would minimize their influence on life of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North. It is important to avoid loss of people, who are keepers of original culture of the Arctic zone of the country, as he says.
Vladimir Dyukov presented basic kinds of icebreakers, which will be necessary for Russia at development of the Arctic.
As we should remind, the second international youth educational forum “The Arctic. Made in Russia” was opened on the 29th of February in Tver Oblast. It gathered more than 150 young specialists, scientists, postgraduates from Russia and countries of the Arctic Council, whose sphere of interests is connected with development of the Arctic zone, in particular, oil and gas industry. During the forum the participants were divided into teams, which included Russian and foreign specialists and also representatives of ethnic minorities of the North. They are solving a business-case on development of a real extractive field. The work will last till the 6th of March.
